Therapeutic Modalities

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy)

EMDR therapy is a structured, evidence-based treatment to help relieve symptoms and recover from PTSD, resolve anxiety, OCD, addiction, grief, and more. After experiencing a stressful or traumatic life event, the memories may stay stuck and manifest into negative thoughts, beliefs, distressing emotions or body sensations. During this process, you may engage in bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements back and forth, self-tapping or handheld pulsators, and audio rhythmic tones) while focusing briefly on the trauma. EMDR does not depend on talking extensively about the trauma nor is homework required. By unblocking what is stuck, the nervous system can return to its natural healing process and find balance.

Dance/Movement Therapy and Somatic Practices

Dance/movement therapy, expressive therapy, and somatic practices can allow you to access shifts and deeper connection with self that may not be as accessible with more traditional cognitive and talk based therapies. We can help develop your personal expression and self connection to find greater embodiment.

Attachment-based Therapy

Attachment-based therapy is founded on Attachment theory, which suggests that the early bond between a primary caregiver and infant is critical to that child's emotional and psychological development. This serves to protect the child and drives regulating behaviors. The attachment styles (secure, preoccupied/anxious, dismissive avoidant, and disorganized) continue to influence our relationships into adulthood. Our attachment styles impact how we view self, others, intimacy and connection, determining our behaviors and ability to form healthy connections. Through identifying attachment style and behavioral patterns, we can develop an understanding of our needs and heal places of insecurity.
